By appointment only is a private exhibition, which the Jiri Svestka Gallery opened in the “by appointement only” mode at the end of last year.
We are constantly updating the exhibition and its latest additions include drawings on paper by Nedko Solakov, photographs by Katarina Poliacikova and glass sculptures by Matyas Chochola.
Nedko Solakov is a Bulgarian artist, who combines his traditional education with conceptual approaches and creates complex, versatile and sophisticated works.
He is a great narrator, who demonstrates a distinct poetic longing for short stories, aphorisms, comparisons, puns and semantic ambiguities.
His works are, among others, part of public and private collections, such as: Centre Pompidou, Paris, Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt, Tate Modern, London, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, Kunsthaus Zurich.
Katarina Poliacikova is a Slovak conceptual artist, who uses everyday experiences as material for her works and observation as her working method. In her artworks she uses photographs, videos and installations to tell stories about time, memory and relationships. She is interested in the intensity and fragility of human ties.
Contemplative reflection on reality is the basis of her creative process, in which she often incorporates found materials, such as objects, photographs or fragments of real-life stories.
Katarina Poliacikova has, among other things, presented her works at solo exhibitions at the Open Source Gallery in New York and at the Museum of Natural History and Science in Lisbon.
Apart from the beforementioned artists, the exhibition also presents works of such contemporary artists as Monika Pascoe Mikyskova, Tony Cragg, Ondrej Filipek, David Shrigley a Kristof Kintera, who collaborate with the Jiri Svestka Gallery.
The works exhibited in the form of a quarantine “art salon” are dealing with the opportunity to present hanging paintings, graphics and illustrations, as well as the format of a traditional sculpture.
If you want to visit the exhibition, please contact us at gallery@jirisvestka.com and propose a term of your visit from Wednesday to Saturday between 11am and 6pm. After the appointment is confirmed, the exhibition and the gallery will be ready for your visit at the agreed time.
